About Liposuction
Sometimes, no matter how hard you work, the excess fat on your body refuses to go away. You could be on a rigid diet, exercising regularly, but still not achieve the lean body that you desire. Whatever the reason, a liposuction procedure can solve the problem. By permanently removing fat cells, this treatment provides an efficient and direct means for obtaining the body that you have otherwise worked so hard for.
Liposuction with VASER
At Advanced Body Sculpting Institute, we utilize advanced VASER technology as the standard for our liposuction procedures. VASER stands for vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance. In practice, this means applying ultrasound energy to the fat that is being targeted in a given liposuction procedure. With the right amount of ultrasound energy, the excess fat will break apart from the surrounding tissue and the bonds that hold it together will loosen at a cellular level. This process makes the removal of excess fat during liposuction much easier on the body than alternative liposuction techniques. The ultrasound energy is highly selective, leaving the surrounding tissue in good condition. (1) With less damage being done to the body, the patient will experience minimal discomfort during recovery and will heal faster. Loosening up the fat cells also makes it easier for our surgeons to sculpt an aesthetically pleasing contour. (2) This process helps the patient achieve their ideal body.
Another perk of the VASER technique is that the ultrasound energy will rejuvenate the skin that surrounds the targeted pockets of fat by stimulating collagen production. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein that strengthens connective tissue. When new collagen grows within the skin, it tightens it and makes it healthier by promoting healing and new cell growth. This will make the results of a VASER liposuction procedure that much more aesthetically optimal. Depending on the amount of excess skin that you may have as a result of losing fat cell volume, it can also eliminate the necessity of a lift procedure. In many cases, the skin that surrounds overgrown pockets of fat can stretch and remain loose after fat has been removed. This can lead to sagging and folding flaps of skin. For this reason, lifting surgical techniques are often combined with liposuction procedures. But for moderate cases of excess skin, the tightening effects of the ultrasound energy in VASER liposuction can do the work of a lift procedure naturally and without the need for larger incisions.

Who is a Candidate for Liposuction?
Ideal Candidates for liposuction will have isolated pockets of excess fat on their body that they are willing to undergo surgery to get rid of. They will be ready to do what it takes to have the body of their dreams.
If you want to undergo a liposuction procedure at Advanced Body Sculpting Institute, there are a few things you should consider. To ensure that the surgery goes smoothly and without complication, you should be in relatively good health. This will also increase the likelihood that you heal well and that your recovery is quick. Liposuction is not a weight loss treatment, so you should already be close to your target weight. Weight loss comes about as a result of diligent lifestyle choices, like eating healthy and exercising regularly. You should also have a realistic notion of what cosmetic surgery can do for your body.
Personal Consultation
At your personal consultation, we will guide you through the liposuction treatment process. We will answer your questions and field your concerns about the procedure. Before you arrive, you can prepare by reviewing your medical history in detail. We will want to know everything about the medical conditions, prescriptions, and surgeries that you have had in the past. These are precautions that we take to make sure that your treatment is safe and suited to your needs. We want to provide excellent results for our patients, and we take every measure that we can to do so.
You will have the opportunity to tell us all about your beauty goals, and we will examine your treatment areas to let you know how liposuction can help you. If we feel that you are a good candidate for liposuction, we will schedule your procedure appointment. If another procedure, such as a tummy tuck, will suit your needs more closely, we will explain the procedure to you in detail. With the information that we gather at your personal consultation, our surgeons can create a personalized treatment plan for you.

Preparation
Preparing for your liposuction procedure is a necessary step to make your treatment safer and bring you closer to the body that you desire. After your personal consultation, we will give you personalized instructions for preparation that will cater to your specific needs. These will include recommendations for your prescription regimen, as well as guidelines for your diet and lifestyle. Beyond these specific instructions, there are some general tips that can make cosmetic surgery a smoother experience. These include:
- Quitting smoking for the duration of your treatment process
- Halting all use of blood-thinning substances like anti-inflammatory medication, herbal supplements, and vitamin E
- Staying consistently hydrated
- Preparing your home for recovery by placing everything within reach and stocking up on healthy groceries
- Arranging a ride home from our office on the day of your surgery
Liposuction Procedure
When you come in for your liposuction procedure, we will begin by administering anesthesia. Depending on the extent of your surgery and your preferences, we will either use general anesthesia or a local anesthetic to keep you awake during surgery. Many of our patients will also be able to take advantage of our Awake Liposuction option.
To begin, your surgeon will inject a tumescent solution made up of lidocaine and epinephrine into your fat cells. This will reduce bleeding and help to prepare your fat for removal. They will then make small incisions in the skin around your fat to access it with the VASER ultrasound probe. After they have thoroughly treated the fat with ultrasound energy, they will use a liposuction tool called a cannula to remove the fat cells using medial suction. During this step, they will sculpt a deliberate contour to accentuate your body’s natural curves. When the procedure is complete, we will briefly monitor your condition and let you know when it is okay to go home.
Recovery
Recovering from your liposuction procedure will require some downtime. You will need to rest and allow your body to heal. You may experience some bruising and sensitivity around your treatment area. These symptoms should resolve themselves within a few days. If you feel any discomfort, we can prescribe medication to help you through this period. We will give you instructions particular to your treatment for taking care of your incisions and when you can return to work. You should avoid strenuous activity for several weeks, or until you are fully recovered.

Results
Swelling will keep the final results of your liposuction procedure hidden for several weeks after your surgery. However, you will notice an immediate improvement in the appearance of your treatment area, as the loss of volume will be apparent. Liposuction provides permanent results, as fat cells cannot grow back once they are removed. Note that maintaining a steady weight will be essential to upholding the aesthetic results of your treatment. This is because the remaining fat cells in your body can still grow and shrink as a result of weight change.
