Male Liposuction
Offered at our convenient location in Denver, CO
Liposuction is a surgical solution that addresses stubborn fat deposits in various areas of your physique. For men, having a chiseled, well-defined physique is important for a masculine appearance. But achieving this look can be more daunting than expected. At first, we rush to the gym and special diets, expecting to see washboard abdominals in under six weeks. By the end of our “get-fit-quick” plan, most of us still can’t see any definition or muscularity. That’s because different types of fat respond differently to diet and exercise. Liposuction addresses those unresponsive fat cells and gives men their desired physique. If you would like to see more tone, definition, and muscularity in your appearance, schedule an initial consultation at our Englewood offices. Here, the ABS Institute team will configure a comprehensive treatment plan to address each trouble spot around your body. To reach our offices directly, please call us at (303) 708-8770.

About The Male Physique
Total muscularity is different between men and women. For men, muscularity coincides with masculinity. This can be a large component in their overall attractiveness to others and their self-image. Since men have 60% more total muscle mass than women, researchers conclude that muscularity played a key role in evolutionary preferences.[1] After all, a man’s muscularity indicates his fitness level, overall health, and ability to protect. Typically, a man’s ideal physique includes:
- Well-defined abdominals
- Outlined obliques
- Prominent pectorals
- Boulder shoulders
- Well-formed biceps & triceps
Combined with a low body fat percentage, these well-developed areas comprise most men’s aesthetic goals. But achieving this physique is not as easy as it was for our prehistoric ancestors – especially as we age.
About Stubborn Fat
Not all fat on our physique is bad. In fact, researchers found that an attractive and healthy appearing man had at least 16% body fat.[2] Fat cells serve a vital purpose to the body’s functions. For example, fat plays a role in releasing leptin and estrogen into the body.[3] Leptin helps regulate appetite and body weight while estrogen modulates erectile function, libido, and sperm production.[4] But too much fat can lead to unwanted health concerns like cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Maintaining the right body fat percentage is difficult though. Not all fat responded similarly to lifestyle changes.
Benefits of Liposuction
Despite popular belief, no exercise spot reduces fatty areas. Our body unevenly burns fat from all different areas. So, fat around places like the abdomen and love handles persists even after you’ve achieved an ideal body fat percentage. Liposuction, fortunately, is uniquely equipped to reduce these specific areas. Unlike diet and exercise, liposuction removes the trouble spots directly, achieving the patient’s ideal physique almost instantly. Other benefits include:
Long-Lasting Results
When we’re younger, our body produces fat cells and disperses them around our body. Once we reach a certain age, typically around adolescence, we reach a set number of fat cells. If we gain weight, these fat cells expand rather than multiply. When we lose weight, these fat cells shrink. A liposuction procedure removes these fat cells entirely, ensuring that results last for years to come.
Quicker Results
Achieving your ideal physique through diet and exercise takes time and patience – two things not all of us are blessed with. Most of us have a busy schedule. Yet, we still wish to see muscular contours. Unlike diet and exercise, liposuction works to eliminate fat cells immediately. After post-op swelling has subsided, patients see natural definition in their muscles.
Candidates
For men interested in liposuction, please schedule a consultation by filling out this convenient online form. It is important to note that liposuction is not a weight loss surgery but rather a body contouring procedure. So, patients need to be at a healthy, stable weight before their procedure. Results can be diminished if subsequent weight is gained. Also, we recommend patients prepare to take at least a week off from work and all strenuous activities.
Personal Consultation
If this is your first time with us, we will begin with a new patient intake interview and a physical exam. Many patients come to us after a weight-loss journey. They often have troublesome areas that are keeping them from accomplishing their final results. During this consultation, we will note your BMI and fitness habits. Then, we will explain our different liposculpture procedures and determine which one is best for you. Finally, based on your comprehensive treatment plan, we will give you a list of preparatory steps to follow. This will outline individual instructions on how to best prepare for your liposuction procedure.
Before Your Liposuction Procedure
Before your procedure, we ask that you:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, Advil, and aspirin. If you are prescribed blood-thinning medication, please consult with your doctor before discontinuing.
- Stop smoking and using any other nicotine products. Nicotine constricts blood vessels which interrupts the body’s healing process.
- Plan a ride home. Designate a caregiver to drive you after your procedure.
- Prefill all prescription medications.
Types of Liposuction
Tumescent Liposuction
As the name indicates, tumescent liposuction uses tumescent fluid: a solution that includes lidocaine, epinephrine, and saline to constrict blood vessels, swell fat lobules, numb surrounding nerves, and minimize bruising. This solution maximizes the amount of fat that is extracted, reduces bleeding, and lessens surgical trauma, which speeds up recovery.
VASER Liposuction
VASER liposuction uses ultrasound technology to disrupt fat cells and dislodge them from their connective tissue. ABS Institute uses this technology to reach the stubborn fat in between muscles. Then, the aspirating cannula suctions the fat cells out of the body. VASER is uniquely equipped to reach the smaller grooves around muscles. This technology has helped thousands of men around the world achieve what has been called “overnight abs”.
SmartLipo
SmartLipo is laser-assisted liposuction. First, the SmartLipo laser uses thermal energy to heat fat cells. Once liquified, the fat cells are easier to clear away with a cannula. SmartLipo’s thermal energy also triggers a skin-tightening response in the treated areas, so patients can see even better definition after they’ve fully healed.
After-Care
Following a liposuction procedure, you will need the next couple of days to focus on rest and recovery. Typically, patients see swelling and bruising in the treated areas for the first week. Please continue to avoid any blood-thinning medications. The treated areas will be wrapped in a compression garment. Keep this garment secure for the duration of your recovery. During your follow-up meeting, we will note where you are in the healing process and determine if any future steps are needed.
EMSCULPT: A Procedure for Muscle Toning
While liposuction addresses fat loss, EMSCULPT is designed to strengthen and define muscles. EMSCULPT uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to contract muscles over 20,000 times in one thirty-minute session. One contraction is equivalent to one rep during an exercise. So, one EMSCULPT session equals 20,000 sit-ups. This technology fortifies muscles fibers and gives the patient pronounced musculature. Many of our patients elect for EMSCULPT after a liposuction procedure to enhance their total physique.
