About VASER Liposuction Technology
Surgeons began experimenting with modern liposuction techniques in the mid-1970s. This long-awaited and innovative treatment met a rising demand for permanent fat removal.[1] Since then, demand is greater than ever, and so is the technology! Patients can now attain the body contours that benefit their self-confidence and appearance. Recoveries are shorter and more comfortable, and results are smooth, natural-looking, and can be tailored to a patient’s needs. Leading surgeons in the field overhauled traditional liposuction treatments to provide doctors with a better way to perform the procedure and patients with enhanced contours, giving us the VASER and VASER Hi-Def liposuction that is so popular today. VASER Liposuction modernized the entire process by using ultrasound vibration to extricate fat cells from the body.
As the fat is treated with the ultrasonic energy, fluctuations in pressure creates vibrations. [2] Eventually, the fat becomes dislodged from the surrounding tissues and emulsified, and can be easily removed by the suctioning cannula. VASER allows for more fat to be removed, and by removing deposits of fat that are closer to the surface, surgeons can more precisely sculpt attractive results.
Why is it Called “Hi-Def”?
VASER Hi-Def Liposuction is also known as abdominal etching. This technology allows the surgeon to strategically remove fat in a way that increases the definition of muscle groups in the desired area, whether that be the abdomen, or other areas like the pecs, arms, and legs. Adjustments can be made in the most superficial layer of subcutaneous fat, and closer to the individual muscles. Consequently, more fat along the muscle fibers’ grooves can be extracted, for optimal definition and to emphasize their muscular structure. [3]

- Refrain from smoking a few weeks before surgery to encourage healthy circulation.

Procedure
We’ll administer the appropriate anesthesia at the start of your treatment so you’ll be comfortable and relaxed during the surgery. Once it has taken effect, our surgical team will inject the treatment area with tumescent fluid. This mixture of saline, epinephrine, and lidocaine helps with the liposuction process. [3] It constricts blood vessels to prevent unnecessary bleeding, enlarges fat cells, and numbs the area to streamline the procedure further. This, combined with the vibrations of the ultrasound waves, will make the fat removal process easier. After small incisions are made, a cannula [3] is inserted to administer the ultrasonic energy, and is manipulated in a back and forth motion to aspirate fat. These steps will be repeated to each treatment area until the desired aesthetic is accentuated. The treatment ends with ABS Institute staff closing the small incisions. Your surgery time is based on the improvements you’re looking to make. However, most patients are allowed to go home within two hours.
Recovery
After your treatment, it is normal to experience mild to moderate discomfort, swelling, and discoloration in the treatment areas for the first week. During this time, take the recovery medication and take walks to encourage blood flow. For the first two weeks, you will be given a compression garment to help shape your new contours and reduce swelling. After the second week, your symptoms will have eased enough for you to resume light activity. More strenuous movements can be resumed within four weeks. [3]
Results
Patients will see optimal results once the post-surgery symptoms have subsided. You will now notice a toned, athletic physique with a more sculpted appearance. These new, sleeker contours can be enjoyed for many years by following a good diet and exercise plan.

FAQ
Does a VASER Hi-Def Liposuction hurt?
Your VASER Hi-Def Liposuction treatment will not hurt because you will be given anesthesia to block discomfort. Furthermore, your comfort level will be maximized when tumescent fluid is injected. This mixture of chemicals is meant to streamline the process and ease away discomfort.
During recovery, typical signs of soreness are expected, but this will resolve itself in a few days.
Does the fat come back with a VASER Hi-Def Liposuction?
No, the fat removed during a VASER Hi-Def Liposuction does not regenerate. However, the remaining fat cells can expand or shrink due to weight fluctuation. As a consequence, this may negatively impact your results. That is why keeping up with a healthy lifestyle is essential to ensure the results remain intact.
